In many villages in the Rioja Alta area, people greet each other with the phrase "Que Vida", which represents the idea of simple countryside life. Applied to wine, "Que Vida" is a "back to the essence" style, featuring wines without aging or winemaking intervention. This style, called "Cosecheros", refers to wines meant to be drunk young, traditionally poured by the glass at bars in the villages where "Que Vida" is said. The local grape is Viura, which, while not the most aromatic, is very versatile and allows for a wide diversity of wines to be made. Its thick skin and nice tannins permit long maceration in closed tanks. No sulfites are added to these wines.
