Colline Novaresi DOC Vespolina - 2022

Vespolina is an Italian red wine grape often used for blending with Nebbiolo and Croatina. The variety is primarily grown in Colline Novaresi (Novara hills) and Gattinara, Piedmont. Vespolina is a low-yielding variety thought to be the offspring of Nebbiolo. It has Nebbiolo's spicy characteristics, although its tannins tend to be softer. It is an intriguing combination of dark spices, pepper, cardamom, cloves and ginger. It has redcurrant, blueberry and raspberry fragrances with subtle and delicate floral notes of iris. Taste is fresh and tasty with a spicy and warm aftertaste.
