"Loam" Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County - 2015

The 2015 Mauritson "Loam" Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County is a powerful and complex wine with the following tasting notes: a nose of sweet mineral, wild dried undergrowth and black currant; a focused entry giving way to integrated flavors of dark chocolate, savory spices and toast; and a perfectly structured balance of the brightness and focused tannins of hillside fruit with the dense, rich characteristics of fruit grown in ancient river bed and valley floor soils. Sourced from gravelly loam soils, which the producer believes are capable of achieving greatness in Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is powerfully built in concentrated layers of sage, crushed rock, cedar and black fruit. The oak is integrated, leaving a trace of vanilla. The 2015 vintage was very condensed with low yields, creating wines of great distinction and focus that will age gracefully for 10+ years. Only 147 cases were produced.
