About Yola Mezcal

Handcrafted and organic, Yola Mezcal follows a distinctive recipe from 1971 passed down by Yola's grandfather. After spending time abroad, Yola Jimenez was drawn back to her native Oaxaca, where she inherited her grandftaher's farm in 2007. When Lykke Li and Gina Aglietti joined Yola to start the brand, Yola had already opened a mezcaleria in Mexico City and had sold small batches of Mezcal; the Mezcal brand was named after Yola to celebrate its roots as the passion project of a woman with deep roots in Oaxaca. Yola works with Gudalupe Bautista to make the primarily Espadin-based Mezcal, which is distilled and bottled by an all-female team in San Juan del Rio.
