Michael Brughelli was one-half of the inception of Scar of the Sea, selling his portion in 2020 to begin his consultancy, Vignerons. Not only that, he has had a long career in viticulture with some of the best in the region, including seven years as director of grape sales for the Miller family, owners of Bien Nacido, as well as general manager at Volk for a decade prior. Made from the last fruit of Bianchi Bench Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands, spontaneous primary native yeast fermentation pressed from skins after 18 days. Aged in 70% neutral French oak and 30% new French oak over 13 months. Pale ruby color, aromas of bing cherry, raspberry, and dragonfruit. Flavors of bright red fruit, hints of earth, and pleasant undertones of the forest floor.
