About Lubanzi

In 2014, co-founders Charlie Brain and Walker Brown embarked on a 100-mile, 6-day hike along South Africa's Wild Coast as exchange students. During their adventure, a wandering dog named 'Lubanzi' joined them, staying by their side throughout the journey until disappearing on the final night. Inspired by this adventure, they returned to South Africa with a vision to create an innovative, forward-thinking, and socially responsible business.

Lubanzi Wines was born, focusing on crafting fairly-produced wines that punch above their weight while making a difference in the lives of the laborers working on South Africa's wine farms. They partnered with two independent winemakers of integrity from Cape Town and sourced all grapes from a single group, using their facilities to produce the wines.

As Lubanzi expanded their portfolio, they began producing natural and skin-contact wines, sourcing grapes from various parcels throughout the Swartland Region. They worked closely with two young, dynamic, and innovative winemakers who practiced low intervention winemaking. Lubanzi has become a certified B Corporation, meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. Upholding their commitment to social responsibility, 50% of Lubanzi's annual profits are shared with the growers through The Pebbles Project, reinforcing their mission to connect people with South Africa and deliver top-notch wines.
