About Le Fontane
Le Fontane is the result of a new generation’s vision, rooted in the land and legacy of Sicilian winemaking. Raised among the vineyards of their family estate, surrounded by the scents of harvest, the warmth of Sicilian summers, and the quiet presence of barrels and amphoras, the Occhipinti siblings were immersed in the world of wine from an early age.
At COS, their father, Giusto Occhipinti, helped shape the philosophy of natural winemaking in Sicily. Under his guidance, they learned to respect the rhythms of the land, to appreciate the patience required in the cellar, and to understand the quiet power of tradition.
Now, building on that foundation, they are beginning a new chapter. With hands in the soil and hearts in the work, they are crafting a personal vision—one that speaks to their time, their experiences, and their generation. Informed by study and travel, they are embracing the challenge of starting anew. While COS remains an essential reference point, Le Fontane seeks to develop its own language of wine, one that begins with a clean slate and an open mind.
Le Fontane's journey began in 2022 with the release of its first wine: Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico, Sicily’s most prestigious DOCG designation. This wine carried the name and identity of the estate, serving as a symbol of tradition and authenticity.
In 2023, the range expanded with two new expressions of the Sicilian landscape: Sabbie Rosse, a bold and enveloping red, and Calcis, a refined, mineral-driven white. Both wines are crafted from native grape varieties and fermented exclusively with indigenous yeasts, in full respect of the fruit and the land from which they come. Each bottle was filled with great care and emotion, a testament to the story they were meant to tell.
