About Viña Echeverria

The Echeverria family emigrated from Amezqueta, a quaint hamlet in Spain's Basque region, to Chile in the 1750s. They settled on the northwestern fringes of Santiago, cultivating agricultural lands where they grew grapes among other crops. In 1930, Roger Piffre de Vauban, a French engineer from Montpellier and the maternal grandfather of Roberto Echeverra, journeyed to Chile's Curicó Valley, located approximately 200 kilometers south of Santiago.

There, on a parcel of land called La Estancia in the small town of Molina, he planted vines of pre-phylloxera French stock without grafting. He established a state-of-the-art winery for its time, equipped with French machinery and tools imported directly from France, aiming to produce premium wines for the domestic market.

Roger's daughter, Adriana Piffre de Vauban, later married Roberto Echeverra Rubio, with whom she had a son named Roberto Echeverra. Inspired by his family's winemaking heritage, Roberto Echeverra Rubio founded a vineyard and winery in Molina in the early 1950s, expanding upon the legacy of the existing winery at La Estancia.

Today, Viña Echeverria remains a family-run estate winery, maintaining the same vineyards and homestead as nearly a century ago. The Echeverria family has cultivated 65 hectares of sustainably managed vineyards in Chile's Central Valley, with Roberto Echeverria continuing to play an active role in the business. He inspires his family to innovate and captivate new customers.

Roberto, along with his four children - Paulina, Viviana, Roberto Jr., and Diego personally markets their wines in over 40 countries worldwide, forging friendships with many of their clients. The family forms an exceptional team, bound by strong familial connections, a shared dedication to winemaking, an unwavering commitment to excellence, and a deep sense of responsibility to their customers.
