About Domaine Paul Prieur

Domaine Paul Prieur et Fils is a family-owned winery located in Verdigny, Sancerre in the Loire Valley. The Prieur family has been producing wine for 11 generations, and today is led by Luc Prieur. The winery’s focus on quality and sustainability has earned them numerous accolades and high scores from wine critics, solidifying their reputation as one of the top producers in Sancerre.

The estate spans 19 hectares, with 14 hectares dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc, and 5 hectares dedicated to Pinot Noir. Known for their organic viticulture and experimental biodynamic practices, the vines are cultivated 100% organically, with the first AB-certified vintage release in 2022. Prieur’s commitment to sustainability is evident in every aspect of their winemaking process; from their use of cover crops, horse-plowing, and hand-picking, to their natural pest control methods and solar panels.

For white wines, the grapes are pneumatically pressed and vinified with no added SO2, before being aged in stainless steel, wooden tanks, or 600-liter barrels without filtering. For red wines, the grapes are vinified partially or entirely whole cluster, and in open tanks with no added SO2. After a long maceration, the reds are aged in wooden tanks or older barrels for approximately 15 months, unfined and unfiltered.

Domaine Paul Prieur et Fils is a testament to the family’s dedication to their land, their traditions, and their commitment to sustainable winemaking practices. Their wines are highly regarded for their balance and elegance.
