About Curto Marco di Nadia Curto

Nadia Curto is leading the charge for women winemakers in Piedmont. niece to the legendary Barolo producer Elio Altare, she still follows her fathers organic approach in the vineyards. The family has been cultivating their 4 hectares of vineyards for over 60 years. They prefer using natural manure, tools to cut grass, pheromone traps instead of insecticides, and sulfur and copper to cure pathologies.

The grapes are harvested and selected by hand in small, airy boxes to maintain freshness, and are transported from the row to the tractor with an electric cart to avoid smog. During vinification, stainless steel tanks with manual punching down and a rotofermenter are used to keep the must in movement for intense aromatic extraction. The wines ferment without adding external yeasts and are not filtered or fined to express the best of its territorial origin. The winery's most important wines are Barolo La Foia, produced following the traditional style and Barolo Arborina, which follows a slightly fruit forward style.
