Rosso di Montalcino - 2021

Caterina Carli's Rosso di Montalcino is aged in large, old Slavonian oak barrels for 14 months, resulting in a Sangiovese that combines vibrant, charming fruitiness with gently spiced, floral character. Aromas of fresh fig, roasted red cherry, and dried rose petal are reminiscent of its ruby-garnet color. The palate is rich, rounded, and supple, with crisp, fragrant middle fruit notes. The finish is harmonious and enjoyable, with good freshness and great structure (for drinking now-2025+).

  • Fermentation:Caterina ages her Rosso di Montalcino in 500 to 5,000 litre botti (between 1 and 2 years) made of Slavonian & Allier oak - eschewing the use of barriques - using natural yeasts, no temperature control, long maceration on skins, and no filtering, resulting in less oak influence and more varietal nuance. Following Gambelli's concept and spirit, her goal is to allow the vineyard to express itself in a clean atmosphere while honoring the region's culture. Other than the vineyard and the vintage, no external influences can influence the wine.
