50th Anniversary wine selection
The 2018 vintage marked ZD Wines’ 50th anniversary, an incredible milestone for a small, family-owned winery committed to producing world-class wines of the highest quality. Mother Nature fulfilled our expectations for this momentous vintage by rewarding us with an outstanding growing season that has led to some amazing wines, including this 2018 Carneros Pinot Noir! This wine also marks the first traditional release with our newly redesigned label that commemorates 50 years of innovative winemaking.
The grapes for this wine were sourced from several certified organic vineyards in the esteemed Carneros appellation, including ZD’s own Carneros Estate Vineyard. All fruit was hand harvested and fermented in small open top stainless steel tanks. Hand punch-downs every six hours ensured gentle extraction of color and tannin, and 10 months of aging in 100% French Oak barrels added depth, richness, and complexity to this wine.
With a beautiful dark ruby color, the Pinot Noir has aromas of ripe strawberries and briary black cherry interspersed with hints of vanilla, cedar, and rhubarb. The subtle oak nuances integrate perfectly with the bright fruit, balanced acidity, and silky tannins. This wine is drinking beautifully now, but will also age gracefully in your cellar.
