2018 Tensley Vineyard Syrah
"This two-acre parcel is planted directly behind our house (we can see it from our kitchen window), and is carefully tended to by us, our grower, and our son, Oliver. Oliver actually planted the first vine back in 2011. The vineyard has great sun exposure, sandy soil, and a gentle slope that provides great drainage for the vines. This year’s Tensley Vineyard is dark and intense with fine tannins and rich flavors of red plums and blackberries complemented by a light spiciness. This wine is friendly in its youth or can be aged for ten or more years."
"Our son, Oliver, planted the first vine in the Tensley Estate Vineyard, and we can still pick that vine out from our kitchen window. In short, this vineyard is very special to us, so we couldn’t be happier that our wine club members as well as wine critics Jeb Dunnuck and Antonio Galloni have embraced this wine wholeheartedly. As young as it is, the grapes from this vineyard show amazing sophistication and complexity. In fact, Dunnuck has called it “reminiscent of a top-flight Cornas.” Look for notes of lavender, plums, black cherries and licorice. This wine is full-bodied and approachable now but is also sure to age well over the next 8 to 12 years." TensleyWines.com
