"The amazing intensity of the vintage spotlights the bold nature of this vineyard. Briary dark fruit, smoked meat and hints of subtle oak punctuate the nose of this wine. On the entry there is both power and grace in the phenomenal tannin structure and the focus the wine retains. The brooding nature of the fruit is apparent as are the complex layers that this wine has to reveal. Wild berry, graphite and hints of herb are complemented by notes of roasted coffee. The structure and focus of the 2014 Cemetery Vineyard Zinfandel will allow it to age beautifully over the next 8-12 years."
"Our family’s Rockpile Ridge Vineyards are located at nearly 1,200 ft.-elevation in the Rockpile appellation. The Cemetery block gets its name from the unusual outcropping of rock at the bottom of the vineyard that resembles giant headstones. This area of the ranch has been called the Cemetery for over 140 years. The Cemetery Vineyard straddles the Rodgers Creek Fault, one of the more active earthquake faults in Northern California, giving it amazing diversity of soil composition."
