About
Vine Hill Ranch
Since 1959, Vine Hill Ranch has farmed the finest Cabernet Sauvignon winegrapes for leading Napa Valley vintners. But the release of the 2008 "VHR"–Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon–was the culmination of the Phillips family's evolution from grapegrowing to winemaking over three generations.
Introducing Vine Hill Ranch
Vine Hill Ranch, under the leadership of the Phillips family, creates hand-crafted wines that reflect the individual traits of each of Vine Hill Ranch's seven vineyard blocks tucked along the wooded hills of the Mayacamas Mountain Range in Oakville. Vineyard manager, Michael Wolf, and winemaker, Francoise Peschon, carefully steward forward a wine that reflects the essence of Vine Hill Ranch.
The fruit from the higher vineyard blocks exude an earthy, forest floor chaparral quality-the sloping grade, gravelly soil and most mature vines produce intense, concentrated and expressive black fruit. Blocks on the lower benchland, with its deep, loamy soils and younger vines, yield bright fruit flavors and fine tannins full of verve and energy. Blended in unique proportions with each vintage, Vine Hill Ranch is a true wine of place.
