Introducing Vapor Distillery
Founded in 2007, Vapor is the first legal distillery in Boulder County, and only the 6th licensed distillery in Colorado (there are now over a dozen). Vapor was started by 3rd generation Colorado native Ted Palmer, who first learned of distilling in his grandfather's garage in Denver at the tender age of ten. Ted is a Navy vet and the former head brewer at Pyramid Brewery in Seattle with nearly two decades of professional brewing and distilling experience. To distill the gin base for their Pumpkin Cordial, Vapor uses two direct flame-heated, alembic copper pot stills handmade in Spain. Both are small; one is a mere 20 gallons and the other 130.
In 2015 Ted was joined by Alastair Brogan, a Scott who is enthusiastic about making his native whiskey in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. For this purpose, the distillery is currently undergoing a massive expansion, installing the largest copper pot still in the state of Colorado — a 1,000-gallon Forsythe copper pot still from Scotland and a new 40 barrel brew house.
