Domaine Roger et Didier Raimbault

400 years and two terroirs between father and son.

Introducing Domaine Roger et Didier Raimbault

At Domaine Roger et Didier Raimbault in Sancerre, vine cultivation has been in the family for 400 years. The result of a father/son merger in 1996, the Domaine totals now 17.5 hectares, with 80% of the vines on sharp slopes of 10-35 degrees, in the communes of Verdigny, Sury and Vaux. A modern winery was completed in 2005. Integrated into a hillside, it spans three levels to accommodate gravity flow throughout the winemaking process.

On hills that are 200 to 400 meters high, the family’s 51 parcels receive prime exposure to the sun. Here, they practice lutte raisonne, while nurturing the soil with grass grown between the rows which also helps fight erosion. In possession of two of the region's three terroirs, the estate’s fuller-bodied wines are yielded from the terre blanche, which is a calcareous clay with Kimmeridgian limestone; while les caillottes is of limestone and gravel, making delicate and fruity well-balanced whites.
